Children of the Fallen: Chapter Twelve
“Hello everyone!” chimed Fenris as he stood up at the grand stairs landing, the Headmaster along with Afriel and Ysabel accompanied him. A large crowd of new faces stared up, bored by the call to gather. “Aren’t you all just so damn cheerful.” He scuffed with a grin.
Bernard sighed and pushed him back, stepping up to speak. “As many of you know you are about to fight the growing demon threat. What you were not told was how.” He motioned his hands back to Afriel and Ysabel. “These two will be splitting you into separate groups. You all will train with them and they will be your commanding office

Children of the Fallen: Chapter Eleven
Afriel sat in his chair, a notepad balancing between his knees and a pencil held like a cigarette in his right hand. “Ok so you don’t dance naked around fire pits?”
Ysabel was standing across the coffee table from him with her arms crossed and an eyebrow raised from his statement. “As I said, not unless there is a lot of strong liquor and hot dudes.” She smirked, walking around to plop herself on the couch.
“Then why would the book think-”
“Because we’re half demon. And anything demon must be a basket case.” Sarcasm dripped off her words. “Look, if this is going to work you

There I was, just standing there, when what I wanted to do was so forbidden. At least, thats what it was like on the first attempt. This is now attempt 43, and there are now many markings up my arms. Your probably wondering what it is Im attempting to do, yes? Well my name is Greg Carmon, and I recently got married to Iris, the girl of my dreams. She had graduated from school to become a psychoanalyst when I had proposed to her, now we’re trying to plan our honeymoon. Iris really wants to see the world, and it really suits her! I could always picture her in explorer cloths with her brown hair in a messy bun-- I’m sorry Im
Step by step we walked
Out into the cold night
The snow numbing the fear
That made us want to hide.
Where do we go?
We were tired and losing hope.
Our broken swords proof of our failure
Of our last try.
So we walked into darkness
Late last night
The snow it swirled and danced
mourning those who died
Our tears long since ceased
so frozen, unable to cry
Where were we going?
No one even knew
Some walked to heaven
Others fell and burned
I still struggled on
Only a few by my side
We went into the cold
Late last night
We lost the battle
Now, frozen, we die.
My chest constricts
My face wrinkles
My eyes leak
Whimpers tumble from my lips
I want to go home.
But I am home
My brother asleep in the room next to mine
My mother waiting for father on the other end of the house
And I sit within these sheets wanting to go home
I want to run away
Get away
I want away
It hurts like someone sitting on my stomach
I cry out in agony
But nobody can help me
Because I am home
But I want to go home.
This feeling won't go away
I cry myself to sleep wanting it to go away
Wanting to be home
As I sleep in my bed
Within my room
In my house
That contains my family
That's what a home is right?
But I keep mumbling to

Ysabel gasped awake, her body jolting. Eyes darting around, confused. She scrambled up to then realize it was all a dream, even though she could still hear the echoing screeches ringing through her ears. With a sigh she rubbed at her face, trying to scrub out the sleep and remains of her dream. Her hands slumped down into her lap and she noticed the squirming black veins beneath her pearl colored skin. Sucking in a deep breath she manages to bring the veins back away from sight and keep them there with a hold and release of air. Relaxing or losing grip always caused them to appear, it was a guarantee during sleep but if a Cambion had nightmar

“This was your plan from the beginning wasn’t it Fenris?!” Ysabel snapped but Fenris remained smug as he ignored her. “You just wanted to breach into the Universities! This isn’t to save man-kind! This is to feed your own pride!”
Fenris gave a slight chuckle. “Dear girl I wish there was that much demon in me. Than maybe I could even manipulate myself on how to see the world and feel. Be able to put the useless things humans focus on aside.” His eyes locked with her’s and she felt forced to calm herself. “But I’m only half, dear girl. No matter the ranking of my demon half.R
